Teenage Cancer Trust
Every day 7 young people hear the devastating words, you have cancer. Young people with cancer need specialised nursing and emotional support. Teenage Cancer Trust is the only UK charity meeting this critical need.
Right now we can only help half of young people with cancer with our world-leading nursing support. We don’t have enough nurses. We need you support to help every young person with cancer get the specialised nursing they desperately need.

What is More Than A Marathon?
More Than A Marathon is an exciting new challenge for Teenage Cancer Trust! You can choose to walk, jog or run 28 miles, one for each of our Teenage Cancer Trust units. The challenge starts on the 1st May, and you have 28 days to reach your goal. So get your shoes on, get going and get ready to raise money for young people facing cancer with every mile.
How does it work?
It’s really simple to sign up!
- Register for free here
- A supporter page will automatically be created for you. Don’t forget to add your own story and a photo to make the page your own!
- Connect your Strava, MapMyFitness or Fitbit to make sure your activity is tracked. You can watch our helpful video of how to do so.
- Don’t worry if you don’t have an app, you can always add your activity manually.
- Get going! You can take on the challenge your own way – a Saturday power walk around the town, or a lunch break run along the river. It all adds up!
- Don’t forget to share your page, and ask your friends to support you
Can we take part as a team?
Of course, the more the merrier! Simply create a team name when you’re registering – you can then use the “Invite Members” button on your team page to send a link to your friends and family.
If someone else has set up a team, simply search for the name when you’re registering to automatically be added to the group.
Do I have to run 28 miles in one go?
Not at all! You choose how you complete the 28 miles. You could break it down to a mile a day, or do longer distances at the weekend. Whether you decide to walk, jog or run, it’s more than a marathon – and you’re more than a match for it.
How will you use the money raised?
7 young people are diagnosed with cancer every day in the UK. Right now, we can only reach half of those who need us.
We have suggested a fundraising target of £100 – this could pay for more than 3 hours of care from a Teenage Cancer Trust nurse, who knows what cancer really means to young people and can provide thoughtful, sensitive, expert support.
How do I pay in my sponsorship money?
The easiest way for your friends and family to support you is online through your supporter page.
If you do receive cash or a cheque, please follow the instructions here – make sure you let us know it’s for your More Than A Marathon challenge.
